Garnetbank Home Learning Provision
To support our pupils during their time away from school we are currently providing a mixture of online and ‘screen free’ home learning opportunities and activities.
Paper learning packs containing literacy, numeracy and health and wellbeing activities and challenges have been emailed out to families in March and May. These packs continue to be available on our school website and can also be collected from the school building if needed. Please contact Mrs Reed our Head Teacher via email if you would like to arrange a date to pick up a pack. E-mail - headteacher@garnetbank-pri.glasgow.sch.uk.
Our school is using the distance learning app ‘Google Classroom’ to deliver online lessons, activities and home learning ideas. Almost two thirds of our pupils have now signed up to join their classmates online in their own virtual classrooms. It is proving to be a popular way to access learning and also stay in touch with friends and teachers during our time apart – all within a safe and moderated online space. Teachers share lessons, links to fun and educational websites as well as advice on home learning for families within their classroom spaces.
Google Classroom can be accessed through pupils’ individual Glow accounts with a special code provided by the school. ‘How to …’ guides to support families access Google Classrooms are available as well as a YouTube video guide.
Have a look at the images of some of our Google Classroom spaces to find out what’s been happening in our virtual school recently.
Photographs of pupils’ home learning activities, additional home learning links, ideas and projects are shared regularly on our newly created @LearningGB Twitter account.
You can also stay updated on important news, updates and messages on our main school Twitter account - @Garnetbank PS. @playlearngrowg1 continues to share lots of ideas for fun and educational play activities while school is closed.
