Friday 13th June was a proud day for Garnetbank Primary as 72 pupils held aloft the flags of the competing Commonwealth nations in a special procession to the City Chambers. The event marked the end of the ten month long Commonwealth Games Glasgow Schools’ Baton Relay during which the Lord Provost's message was carried to over 70 schools and nurseries across the city.
Excited parents and members of the public cheered on pupils as they made their way through the city centre led by Luqman who was chosen to carry the baton itself! On their arrival at the City Chambers, the children were welcomed by the Lord Provost Sadie Docherty and then piped into the Banqueting Suite.
A rousing performance of 'The Glasgow Song' by Garnetbank's choir ended the handover ceremony, after which the Lord Provost read aloud her message to the city's schoolchildren. Lewis and Adelaide were excellent ambassadors for our school as they read aloud a special reply from Garnetbank Primary.
