‘Children United in Art’
Garnetbank's after school Art Club have been taking part in an imaginative form of cultural exchange with pupils from San Vicente Ferrer Colegio, Santiago, Chile. Pupils from both schools have created impressive pieces of artwork based on their home countries' culture, geography and history.
These drawings, paintings and collages were then posted off to the 'twinned' school, much to the excitement of all involved! Pupils also include stories, poems and reports to explain the background of each piece, to help their new friends learn more about Scotland and Chile!
The project is the brain child of Eva's mum (P6), Adela who runs the Monday and Wednesday after school Art Clubs. ‘Children United in Art’ has provided a fantastic opportunity to further explore the diverse range of cultural backgrounds present within Garnetbank Primary. Pupils have recently received their first package of artwork from Chile and the Art Club have created a wonderful display beside the upper cloakroom to allow all Garnetbank pupils to become involved.
Please view the slideshow below which was sent from the San Vicente Ferrer Colegio which shows pupils creating their pieces.
